I get various popup ad windows appearing when I click on links and in the search engine field on the Chrome and IE. It's making using the internet a horrible experience. I think I got infected when I downloaded and installed a freeware screen capture video program called CamStudio. I can't think what else it could have been, but funnily, the popups have taken a few weeks to appear. There was no noticeable problem initially. I'm hoping someone can help me eradicate it.
I happened to drop by the CamStudio website http://camstudio.org/ and found this link on their page stating that there are fake versions of Cam Studio running around with malware due to a recent hacking of their page and sourcefourge which is re-directing users to download infected software.....
