A new ransomware was spotted named Unlock92. It encrypts victims’ files and asks them to contact the criminals at UNLOCK92@INDIA.COM.

What is Unlock92?

Once Unlock92 intrudes into your PC system, it generates a random 64-character hexadecimal password for each victim, and encrypts files with AES. This password is encrypted with RSA and sent to the criminal's server. Encrypted files have the extension ".CRRRT" appended to them. A file called key.bin is left on the desktop with the public RSA key.

After maliciously encrypting victim's files, Unlock92 changes the desktop wallpaper with an image. Both text files and wallpaper contain the same ransom-demanding message. The message claims that victims must pay a ransom to restore these locked files. To do so, victims must send one encrypted file, alongside with key.bin file (which is placed in every folder that contains encrypted files) to the provided email address (UNLOCK92@INDIA.COM).

Should You Pay?

The answer is “absolutely not”.

If you pay, they'll build more malware, pretty much as simple as that. The payment deadline will be changed up to the hackers and the ransom will be increased as time goes on. Victims will then supposedly receive further payment instructions.

It is no exaggeration to say, the ransomware authors always threaten you that there's really no way to get your data back unless you pay the ransom, you can’t use your computer as normal until you pay the ransom.
